Fun in the sun at Amsteltje StreetParty

The weather at the yearly Amsteltje streetparty was traditionally beautiful. Great music, line up included the extremely gifted street artist Chuck Deely (MP3 sample), great Indonesian food, and great drinks all around. An also as every year the English had to start streaking again :).

Queen's Birthday; celebrate it in Toronto

April 30th is a national holiday in the Netherlands. The day is called Koninginnedag, which translates literally into "Queen's Day". Since April 30th 1980 it no longers coincides with our Queen's actual birthday. In honour of her mother Queen Beatrix decided that Queens Day would take place on Juliana's birthday. This will actually be the first time Juliana will not be there, as she passed away earlier this year on March 20th.

On a more festive note, I was delighted to see our Canadian expats are keeping up with traditions. They will be staging a big party in Toronto today, so go and register and join in the festivities!
